Kaleseramik Features in Turkishtime Magazine’s “R&D Top 250”
According to research by Turkishtime magazine, Kaleseramik, a leading brand in Türkiye’s ceramics sector, ranked 165th among the companies with the highest R&D expenditure in 2021, with spending of TL 16.381 million.
Each year, Turkishtime identifies Türkiye’s leading R&D spenders through research among companies with R&D centres approved by the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
Drawing on information provided by Türkiye’s top 500 exporters and disclosures made by Borsa İstanbul companies to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), this year’s study was led by defence, automotive and technology companies. Highlighting the importance of investment in R&D, the “Top 250 Companies by R&D Expenditure in 2021” list ranked ceramics sector leader Kaleseramik 165th, with expenditure of TL 16,381,160.
R&D: Kaleseramik’s Stronghold
Supporting its pioneering industry role through strong R&D, Kaleseramik laid the foundations for its current capabilities with its first systematic research and development work in 1973. Focusing on sustainability and innovation, it runs projects ranging from waste prevention and material and process improvements from raw materials to finished products, to the design and development of innovative products that will shape the sector.
Informed by technological developments in the sector and worldwide, the Kaleseramik R&D Centre works to offer innovative products and solutions and use the latest manufacturing technologies, with a vision of leading new and existing markets.
Its R&D activities include projects focused on cost, quality and efficiency; inks and functional materials for digital applications; environmentally friendly geopolymer tiles; Industry 4.0 applications; and sustainability initiatives such as waste recovery, low-carbon technology development and hydrogen-compatible kiln technologies.
The company follows national and international support and incentive programmes provided by the Ministry of Industry and Technology and TÜBİTAK, applying to relevant programmes to benefit from R&D support. Research and development projects are carried out in collaboration with academics from universities in Türkiye and abroad, as well as other companies.
