UIA World Architecture Congress was held in Istanbul throughout July 3-7 2005. World Architecture Congresses are organised by the Union of International Architects every three years. Çanakkale Seramik & Kalebodur and Kalekim brands of the Kale Group were the main sponsors of the 22nd congress organised in Istanbul.

UIA 2005 Istanbul XXII. World Architecture Congress attracted more than eight thousand architects from many countries around the world.

Organised by the TMMOB Chamber of Architects and hosted by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the 22nd World Architecture Congress also received support from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey. The Kale Group became the main sponsor of the Istanbul Congress at the 20th World Architecture Congress held in Beijing in 1999, thereby making it possible for this organisation to take place in Istanbul.
