Çanakkale Seramik Fabrikalari A.S., Turkey's first producer of ceramic tiles was established in 1957 while Kalebodur, Turkey's first producer of floor tiles, followed in 1972. The name Çanakkale Seramik became synonymous in Turkey for quality in ceramic wall tiles while Kaleseramik became the generic term in Turkey for floor tiles. In 2000 the Çanakkale Seramik Fabrikalari A.S. and Kalebodur Seramik Sanayi A.S. joined forces to form the "Kaleseramik, Çanakkale Kalebodur Seramik Sanayi A.S."
Kaleseramik continues to produce both Çanakkale Seramik and Kalebodur brand products. The company ranks as the world's largest ceramic producer, boasting an annual 60 million square meter production capacity from a single facility.
Kaleseramik today comprises 45 different factories covering a total land area of 1,200,000 square meters, with 500,000 square meters of enclosed space. The total annual capacity is 22 million square meters of wall tiles; 33 million square meters of floor tiles and 5 million square meters of granite tiles. In addition, the factories also have an annual production capacity of 10,000 tons of insulators and 5000 tons of refractors. The company produces 2000 varieties of floor tiles of forty different sizes and 1350 varieties of wall tiles at thirty different sizes. Each year the company adds approximately two hundred new products to its line.
