The Frit Preparation Department began its operations along with Çanakkale Seramik Fabrikalari A.S. and developed and advanced parallel to the advancements occurring in the Group as a whole. On the thirtieth anniversary of its establishment (1987), the activities of this department were splintered off into its own company, the Kalefrit Silikat Mamülleri Sir ve Boya San. Tic. A.S. (Silicate Glaze and Dyes Industry and Trade Company). During the first years of its establishment Kalefrit was primarily engaged in the provision of the semi-finished product frit for the use of the Kale Group's production of floor and wall tiles. Today it is Turkey's largest and most modern frit production plant and is among the leading plants of its kind in Europe.
